Why Make the Move to Private Practice?

Are you frustrated with your current role as an MSK Physio? Do you want to help your patients recover, much more than your existing role allows? Lack of support, no development opportunities? Working in a “sausage factory”, churning out appointments?

Joining BOOST PHYSIO in private practice where ALL Treatment options are available, might your best career move. The NHS gives you an excellent foundation – structured rotations, breadth of clinical exposure and solid grounding. But many physios get fed-up working with unmotivated patients, long waiting lists, pressure to discharge patients, pressure that all patients self-manage their condition… that’s not why you chose to become a physio.

At BOOST PHYSIO, our physios see patients who have chosen to prioritise their health and are paying to be here. They turn up on time, they expect the best, want lots of treatment options, they expect results. That changes the dynamic of every single appointment – and it changes how quickly you develop as a clinician.

What a Career at BOOST PHYSIO Looks Like

We are a growing group of MSK physiotherapy clinics across North London and Hertfordshire, currently operating from 10 established branches with further locations opening throughout 2026. That growth means genuine career progression – not just a job, but a pathway. Many of our current senior physios and clinic leads started with us at Band 5 level and built their careers here.

Day to day, you will manage a varied caseload of MSK conditions: acute sports injuries, back and neck pain, post-surgical orthopaedic rehabilitation, shoulder and knee problems and everything in between. You will have the time and space to do thorough assessments, build genuine therapeutic relationships and apply the full range of treatment tools available to you – including manual therapy, shockwave therapy, exercise rehabilitation and acupuncture. Private practice is where you get to use everything you trained for.

You will not be working in isolation. BOOST PHYSIO has a team of over 30 physiotherapists across our network. You will have a named mentor, regular group CPD sessions and direct access to senior clinicians when you need a second opinion or want to talk through a complex case. We bring external consultants and surgeons into the team for monthly Lunch and Learn sessions – recent guests have included orthopaedic shoulder surgeons and sports medicine specialists. The quality of clinical discussion here is something our team consistently tell us they value highly.

We recognise that the jump from Band 5 to Band 6 is about more than a salary increase – it is about clinical confidence, caseload complexity and taking ownership of your development. Our structured CPD programme and mentoring are specifically designed to support that transition, so that you are not just moving up a band on paper but genuinely becoming a more capable, more confident clinician.

Who We Are Looking For

We recruit physios who care deeply about their patients and their own development. You do not need to be the finished article – we are not expecting a senior specialist on day one. What we do look for is good clinical reasoning, a hands-on approach, genuine enthusiasm for MSK physiotherapy and the kind of personality that fits a supportive, high-performing team.

Essential requirements are HCPC registration, CSP membership and the legal right to work in the UK, we have limited capability to sponsor selected candidates work visa. Private practice experience is helpful – we hire excellent NHS physios and invest in helping them make the transition successfully.

If you are a Band 5 physiotherapist ready to develop your MSK skills in a supportive private practice environment, or a Band 6 looking for a clinic where your career can really move forward, we would love to hear from you.

Frequently Asked Questions - Careers at BOOST PHYSIO

No - private practice experience is helpful but not a requirement. We regularly recruit excellent NHS physiotherapists who are making their first move into private practice. We have a structured induction and mentoring programme specifically designed to support that transition, covering everything from caseload management in a private setting to working with insured patients. What matters most is strong clinical reasoning, a hands-on MSK approach and a genuine enthusiasm for patient care.
We recruit at Band 5 equivalent level (typically physios with 1-2 years post-graduate experience) and Band 6 equivalent level (experienced MSK clinicians looking for a senior or lead role). The Band 5 total package starts from £34,000 per annum and the Band 6 total package ranges from £40,000 to £50,000 per annum depending on experience. We also have a clear internal pathway from Band 5 to Band 6, supported by our CPD and mentoring programme.
We offer both full-time and part-time employed positions. Many of our physios join us full-time and some choose to work across more than one of our clinic locations. If you are interested in part-time work - for example, whilst transitioning from an NHS role - we are happy to discuss what might work for both sides. All roles are employed positions, not self-employed or associate arrangements.
We have established clinics in Hendon (NW4), East Finchley (N2), Hampstead (NW3), Swiss Cottage (NW3), Muswell Hill (N10), Mill Hill (NW7), Hampstead Garden Suburb (NW11), Borehamwood (WD6), Elstree (WD6) and Kensington (W8). New branches are opening in 2026 in Crouch End (N8), Kentish Town (NW5) and West Hampstead (NW6). When you apply, let us know which locations work best for you and we will try to match you accordingly. In some cases, there may be flexibility to split time across two nearby clinics.
Our CPD programme is one of the things our team tell us they value most. It includes weekly one-to-one mentoring with a senior clinician, monthly in-house practical CPD sessions, and monthly Lunch and Learn events with external consultants and specialists - recent sessions have included orthopaedic surgeons and sports medicine experts. We also fund external courses and provide paid study leave. As you develop, you will have opportunities to mentor junior team members and take on wider clinic responsibilities.
Our caseload is almost entirely MSK. You will treat a wide range of conditions including back and neck pain, acute sports injuries, post-surgical orthopaedic rehabilitation (knee replacements, ACL, shoulder surgery), shoulder and rotator cuff problems, hip conditions, lower limb injuries and more. Patients come to us both as self-payers and through medical insurance (Bupa, AXA Health, Vitality and WPA). All patients are motivated, engaged and committed to their recovery - which makes the clinical work both challenging and deeply rewarding.
All BOOST PHYSIO clinics are fully equipped for comprehensive MSK assessment and treatment. You will have access to manual therapy tools, shockwave therapy, exercise and gym rehabilitation equipment, acupuncture and taping. Private practice gives you the time and clinical freedom to use the full range of skills you have trained for - appointments are not rushed and treatment plans are genuinely individualised.
All candidates must have HCPC registration, CSP membership and the legal right to work in the UK at the time of application. We are not currently a licensed sponsor for skilled worker visas. If you are in the process of obtaining HCPC registration from overseas and already hold the right to work in the UK, we are happy to discuss your application.
Yes - and it is a genuine one. At BOOST PHYSIO, progression beyond Band 6 can include taking on a clinical lead or branch lead role, responsibility for mentoring and supervising junior team members, involvement in service development and - for those with the right ambition and aptitude - a partnership pathway within the business. We are a growing group and that growth creates real opportunities. We are proud that several of our current senior clinicians and leads started with us at junior level.
We are always happy to receive speculative applications from talented MSK physiotherapists. Even when no specific roles are advertised, we actively build a pipeline of great candidates for upcoming vacancies - and with new clinics opening in 2026, there will be opportunities. Simply complete the application form above, upload your CV and tell us a little about what you are looking for. We will be in touch when the right opportunity arises.
