Kate McLeod

Specialist Physiotherapist- hampstead nw3

Learn about Specialist Physiotherapist, Kate McLeod, who works in our Hampstead NW3 clinic opposite Hampstead tube station.

I have been a physiotherapist for almost 30 years and have worked in clinics in South Africa, Australia and most recently in Scotland. I have always been fascinated by the way people move and I love to troubleshoot why an injury has occurred. I enjoy helping patients understand their injury, get curious about their bodies and collaborating with them to personalise a rehab path that returns them to what they love to do.

Kate Loves To Help People:

  • Runners and sports people
  • Rehabilitation of chronic, complex injuries
  • EDS (Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome), hyper mobility and other connective tissue disorders
  • Post operative rehab (knee surgery, spine surgery, hip replacements, shoulder surgery etc)
  • Back, neck and spine conditions
  • Sports injuries (achilles tendon, hamstring tears, knee issues)
  • Upper limb- frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, RSI, tendinitis
  • Knee, ankle and foot sprains, pains and injuries.

One of my favourite parts of the job is hearing a patient’s story. Every individual is unique and the impact an injury has on someone’s life is very personal. It is always a privilege to share in a patients journey.

I am a hiker, a slow runner and an enthusiastic maker. I am looking forward to settling into my new life in London with my partner and little Whippet. I am slowly learning to embrace the winters and to truly appreciate and celebrate each of the seasons on this side of the world.

Kate’s Approach: Curiosity, Collaboration, and Getting to the Root Cause

What sets Kate apart is her genuine curiosity about the human body. In almost three decades of clinical practice, she has developed a sophisticated ability to look at how the whole person moves — not just the painful part — and to ask the right questions that unlock why an injury has happened.

She is particularly drawn to the challenge of patients who have been suffering for a long time. Whether that’s a runner who has tried everything, a patient managing the daily complexity of EDS, or someone whose injury keeps returning despite previous treatment, Kate’s breadth of clinical experience and advanced training means she brings a fresh perspective and a genuine determination to help.

Kate’s patients consistently describe feeling heard. She believes that understanding a patient’s life — what they love to do, what their injury has taken from them, and what matters most to them — is just as important as the clinical assessment. That understanding shapes everything about the treatment plan she builds with them.
